WELCOME HOME

Discover the warmth of Little Skittles, a family-owned, neighborhood kindergarten in Mountbatten. Little Skittles hosts a vibrant international community of children, their families and educators.

Nestled in a single-storey, detached black and white property hosting an expansive front lawn and outdoor play areas, Little Skittles embraces a pedagogy of play. Our teachers support playful learning and see situations and activities as opportunities to lead, explore and play. Through purposeful play, children learn to collaborate, negotiate rules and relationships and imagine and create!

PLAYFUL LEARNING – A PEDAGOGY OF PLAY

At Little Skittles, we want children to explore the unknown and find joy in learning. We believe that playful learning help children learn fundamental concepts and skills, as well as develop their ability to collaborate, solve problems and navigate uncertainty.

The idea that play, enjoyment and emotion is at odds with learning and rigor is a misconception. Creating powerful learning experiences for our children mean breaking down this distinction. By embracing play as a powerful tool, Little Skittles match a child’s natural way of learning together with the teaching of important skills and mindsets.

HOME – SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP

A strong home-school partnership ensures that learning extends beyond the classroom, creating a seamless connection between school and home. Open, two-way communication is essential because parents know their children best, providing valuable insights that help us tailor learning experiences. At the same time, schools can support families by reinforcing learning through play, offering guidance and creating a shared culture and commitment to lifelong curiosity and joy.

By engaging playfully with parents and offering ample opportunities for them to lead parent-in-class sessions, participate in school-wide celebrations, and share their passions, we create a movement for joyful parenting and learning!
